Stockport Drug and Alcohol Services

Supporting people, changing lives

MOSAIC Alcohol Media Bus

Pupils from Stockport schools produced a radio show on Key 103 as part of a Safer Stockport Partnership (SSP) project to prevent and reduce alcohol misuse.

The Year 8 students from Werneth School in Romiley and St James’ Catholic School in Cheadle Hulme produced and recorded a radio programme at the Key 103 studios in Castle Quay.

In the studio next door to the pupils at Key 103 was British hip-hop rapper Chipmunk who popped in to see the pupils while they were producing their show.

While at the studio the students recorded an interview with an ex alcohol service user, which highlighted how alcohol can seriously affect young lives and hosted a talk show. They also produced an advert which will be played on Key 103 to promote MOSAIC – Stockport Council’s young people’s drug and alcohol service.

The pupils gained the chance to produce and record their own show at the studio after winning a competition in which they recorded pod casts warning of the health and social impacts of drinking. This was part of a SSP initiative to prevent and reduce the harm that alcohol misuse can cause by providing young people with accurate information.
